Parents of Reception aged children

We have spaces in Reception currently. If you are interested in your child joining our school please contact the school office using the contact details below. You can use the booking form below to book a visit of the school with a member of our Senior Leadership Team.

Parents of Nursery aged children

If you would like to visit Hedgehog Nursery and find out more about what we have to offer, please contact the School Office on 01473 623790 and you will be warmly welcomed to see our provision. Our Nursery page may also answer some of your questions.

Parents of children in Years 1-6

If you would like to enquire about available spaces in Years 1-6, please telephone the School Office on 01473 623790 in the first instance. We are very happy to arrange tours of our school for any prospective families.

If you are a prospective parent exploring different specialist provisions then we encourage you to view the information on our school website and discuss the process with Family Services at the Local Authority. If you have further questions regarding our SSU then please contact our school office and we will try our best to answer them. We regularly offer tours for prospective parents and you can book a place by contacting the school office 

Frequently Asked Questions

How are classes set up in Reception?

In Reception we have two core classes, your child will either be in Caterpillar class or Butterfly class. Reception shares an outdoor space and mix as a group of 60 on a daily basis.

How is the school day structured?

The doors open at 8.50 am for a 9.00 am registration. Lunch in Reception is from 12.00pm-1.00pm. Pick up is at 3.30 pm, but please note that we start releasing the children slowly at 3.20 pm as parents arrive.

What does my child need to bring each day to school?

Each day we expect your child to arrive at school with a water bottle, book bag and coat, in the warmer weather we ask for sun hats too.

What lunches are available?

We provide free hot meals or the school's ‘Pick and Mix’ option. Alternatively, children can bring their own packed lunch. Menus will be sent out termly or can be found on the website here.

My child has allergies, can they have a school provided meal?

Our school catering team caters for allergies and will be happy to provide a menu to meet your child's requirements. Please ensure you give detaisl of any allergies on the Pupil Registration Form.

What uniform will my child need?

What will my child need for PE?

The children will need navy/black shorts and a white t-shirt. Plimsolls/trainers are also needed, only in the summer term for Reception.

Do you provide Wrap Around Care?

We provide a Breakfast and After School club daily. More information about these clubs can be found here. If you would like to add your child to the waiting list for these clubs, please send an email to our office team via office@gorseland.net.

Pupil Premium & Free School Meals

Your child will automatically be eligible to receive Universal Infant Free School Meals when they start school in Reception. However, you may also qualify for Free School Meals which would entitle you to our Pupil Premium allowance of £100 per year to spend on uniform, trips etc. Find out if your child qualifies for free school meals and how to apply.
