Welcome to Gorseland Primary School

Gorseland is a very special school and our happy children are at the heart of all we do. We ask our children to make their best even better by nurturing a love of learning, combined with the confidence to take risks and develop ownership of their own learning.

Everyone is encouraged to treat others as they would wish to be treated. We do this by promoting empathy, tolerance and an

understanding of each other.

The school’s ethos supports families in raising children who will grow to become responsible adults, ready to meet the demands of an increasingly fast-moving world, whilst treasuring the wonder and magic of childhood, helping them to grow – but not too fast.

We enjoy helping children exceed their own expectations in their work, their sport and their relationships with each other. This is due to the inclusive atmosphere and the quality of education we provide here at Gorseland.

I hope this website provides you with all the information you need. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to visit us.

Our Values & Ethos

At Gorseland Primary School we believe that we must strive to make yesterday’s best even better today and that we must treat everyone the way we would like to be treated. To this end, each of the stages of childhood are appreciated and made enjoyable and rewarding in their own right and not just considered as preparation for what follows. Our environment provides challenge in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, conducive to learning. We ensure that children are regarded as individuals, with their differing needs catered for. Our children are taught the skills, values, attitudes and knowledge that will allow them to participate in a truly global society. This idea is supported by our democratic system of class meetings, which enables every child to voice their opinions and concerns as well as making and abiding by collective decisions. As a school we promote fundamental British values making sure children and staff are safe, supported and integrated in the school. We actively teach the values listed below which we believe are central to living happy, successful, liberal and compassionate lives.
