What a fantastic afternoon we all had on Tuesday making our London models. We have been amazed by the outcome: amazing spinning London Eyes, Football stadiums, Big Bens, The Walkie Talkie, Nelsons column and Tower Bridge just to name a few! Thank you for all your time of collecting the resources and joining our class for the afternoon the children had a brilliant time!

We have been exploring different skills in PE and have completed a carousel of activities such as hurdles, passing a football, throwing and catching and bat and ball passing. We have now moved in to concentrating mainly on our tennis skills.

Take One Picture

We have been looking carefully at the new take one picture from the national gallery this week. We will be completing a project around this picture at the end of the term so we were looking carefullythinking about topics and themes we could take from it that we would like to explore further in our learning. We had the task of putting the picture back together without even seeing it! This proved tricky but we managed to complete the puzzle. We were interested in the mermaids in the water and the giant ship also the weaving that the lady was completing. We looked into the background story of the picture from the national gallery's website.

WOW! What fantastic projects we have had come in over the last week. The children loved sharing their learning with each other and we gained so many facts about different landmarks. Did you know that the London Eye has 32 capsules and takes half an hour to go around? Also Buckingham palace has 775 rooms! Thank you for all of your hard work with these projects over the Easter break.

In our maths learning this week we have been thinking carefully about the value of numbers. We used mathematical language to sort numbers thinking about if they were more/less than a given number and also we have been learning about odd and even. We sorted the numbers into Venn diagrams and wrote our headings independently. We worked together in our groups working as a team.

What an exciting day!

Wow! What a super day we have had in Owl class today. We had a visit this morning from Jo at the dogs trust. She taught us all about how to keep safe around dogs and what to do if a dog approached us outside. We learnt that the golden rule is to always ask the owner is the dog likes to be stroked before you touch it and that the best position is 'the x factor' if your out and a dog is barking or jumping up.

This afternoon we then had a visit from the Norwich puppet theatre. We were very lucky that the PFA paid for this visit. We learnt all about the story Thumbalina and the children were amazed throughout the show, they absolutely loved it. A big big thank you to the PFA for arranging this for us.

Golden Kilometer

We have been completing the Golden Kilometer this half term and the children have loved it! We run around the school field four times collecting a multi link on each lap. We have been working hard to not give up and to try and beat our time each time we run! The children have amazed me with how quickly they have completed the challenge and some children have wanted to keep running past the four laps. We have talked about how regular exercise keeps our bodies fit and healthy.

Design and Technology

We have been busy cooking this week making Easter cornflakes chocolate cakes. We carefully weighed out the amount of chocolate we would need and watched it turn from a solid to a liquid when we melted it in the microwave. We then combined the ingredients added mini eggs and left the cakes to set in the fridge. We also designed our own Easter baskets to take our cakes home in.

Easter Trail

posted 30 Mar 2017, 00:26 by Emily Vale

We had a fantastic afternoon on our Easter trail on Tuesday. We solved riddles which led us to different destinations around the school grounds. Year 1 class puppets had led us on this secret trail and it turned out the eggs were hiding in the classroom all along. We worked as a team to solve the riddles which led us to the next clue!
